Standards

Editorial Policy

The principles, processes, and disclosures that govern every article published on Byte Trendz.

Last updated: May 28, 2026

1. Editorial independence

Byte Trendz is editorially independent. No advertiser, sponsor, or affiliate partner has the right to review or approve content before publication. Verdicts in reviews and comparisons are based on testing and reasoning, not commercial relationships. Sponsored content is the only exception and is always clearly labeled (see Section 6).

2. Sourcing & research

Every article is grounded in at least one of the following: hands-on testing of the product, the vendor's official documentation, primary statements from the vendor (blog posts, releases, interviews), or independent reporting we link to directly. We avoid second-hand summaries when a primary source is available.

3. Fact-checking

Before publication, every article is reviewed by a human editor against these checks:

  • Names, prices, version numbers, and dates are confirmed against the vendor's official source.
  • Quotes are verified against the original source and linked to it.
  • Quantitative claims (benchmarks, user counts, market sizes) include the source.
  • Screenshots are taken from the actual product, not stock imagery.

We treat “according to the vendor” differently from independently verified facts and label them accordingly.

4. Use of AI

Byte Trendz uses AI tools across the editorial workflow — for research summaries, draft scaffolding, copy editing, image generation, and translation. We treat AI as an assistant, not an author. Our rules:

  • A human editor reviews every piece before publication. AI does not publish to the site autonomously.
  • Factual claims generated by AI are verified against primary sources before being included.
  • AI-generated images are noted in the caption (“Illustration by Byte Trendz, AI-assisted”).
  • Articles where the majority of prose was AI-generated carry a clear disclosure in the byline or footer.
  • We do not use AI to fabricate quotes, interviews, or attributed statements.

5. Bylines & contributors

Articles are attributed either to a named author or to the “Byte Trendz Editorial Team.” A named byline means the person wrote or substantially edited the piece and stands behind its conclusions. The editorial-team byline means multiple editors contributed and the piece reflects the publication's collective view. We do not use pseudonymous bylines to disguise AI-generated content.

6. Advertising, sponsorships & affiliates

Byte Trendz is supported by display advertising, affiliate links, and occasional sponsored content. Our rules:

  • Display ads are served by third-party networks (e.g. Google AdSense) and are clearly distinguishable from editorial content.
  • Affiliate links may appear in editorial articles. Commissions do not influence verdicts; we link to non-affiliate alternatives when relevant.
  • Sponsored content is labeled with a clear “Sponsored” or “Paid Partnership” tag and is written or reviewed by the sponsor. It is not counted toward editorial coverage of competing products.
  • Free product trials and review samples are disclosed in the article when relevant.

7. Corrections

We correct errors quickly and visibly. When a substantive correction is made, we update the article and add a note at the bottom describing what changed and when. Minor typos and formatting fixes are made silently. To report an error, email hello@bytetrendz.com with the article URL and the issue.

8. Updates to older articles

Software changes fast. We periodically refresh evergreen articles (tool comparisons, “best of” lists, how-to guides) with new pricing, features, and screenshots. Significant updates are reflected in the article's “Updated” date. We do not republish an old article as new without substantive changes.

9. Privacy & user data

Reader data is handled according to our Privacy Policy. We do not share reader data with advertisers beyond what is exchanged through standard ad-network mechanics.

10. Feedback

We welcome feedback on our standards. Email hello@bytetrendz.com with thoughts, concerns, or suggestions.
